Since winning Asia Bagus in 1991, Sheikh Haikel has become a formidable force in the entertainment industry across Asia. He is an accomplished Performing Artiste in both the music and acting arenas. His excellent comic talent was first seen on the big screens with his first movie, a local hit entitled, ‘Army Daze’. He then did his next movie, ‘City Sharks’ which was a production of joint collaboration between Singapore and Malaysia. He also was part of many TV sitcoms that includes ‘Three Rooms ‘, ‘Under One Roof’, ‘The Donnie Lee Show’, ‘Living with Lydia’ and many more! He also hosted one of ESPN’s most highly rated regional broadcast show, ‘Football Crazy’ and was a radio DJ with Singapore’s radio stations 98.7FM and 91.3FM.
Currently, he is a host on Okto‘s longest and most successful series number, ‘Knockout, ‘Knockout All Stars’ and ‘Knockout Carnival’!
He also performed challenging roles on stage with acclaimed stage productions such as “Army Daze”, “Cinderella” by Wild Rice, “Morning People” by Toy Factory, a monologue, “Ah Boy” and many more!
Sheikh Haikel has become a sought-after Host in countless major events including numerous Singapore National Day Parades, opening of The Esplanade, Scape*, the inaugural Youth Olympic Games 2010, Mosaic Music Festivals, many Hip Hop events and countless dance competitions
However, he is most affectionately known as Singapore’s Godfather of Hip Hop. With great passion and dedication, he has become synonyms to the journey of Hip Hop here in Singapore and Asia, being the first to ever be known as a HIP HOP Artiste. Also, he has created ever-green singles in his two albums entitled, “For Sure” and “For Sure Too” which led him to win Best Local English Song at the COMPASS Awards in 2002 and 2004 for the hit Single, “Witulah”.
His recent well-received singles include, “Still Steady” and “Yang Teristimewa” from the “101010” album and “Short Shorts” which he performed at Mediacorp’s 2012 NYE Countdown. Look out for his next single, “So Shiok” coming up from his latest album to be recorded entirely at SOM Recording Studios.
Sheikh Haikel has a BA in Drama from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) but above all, he is a husband and a ‘Big Papa’ to two beautiful children.
Anna Belle Francis
An Actress since the age of 7 with a children’s theatre company where she learnt to act, sing, dance, write scripts. By 18, she adapted and directed her first professional play, “Makanplace” and continued to direct and perform with other renowned Theatre companies.
Her debut on TV was a hit music video program, “Vidz”. She then ventured into numerous TV drama/comedy series on Channel 5 that included “Growing Up”, Triple Nine”, “Three Rooms”, “Phua Chu Kang”, “Under One Roof” and on Art Central with “Soul Food”, “Trail Blazers”, “Watch It”, “Robbie and The Book Of Tales” and many others! She also acted in a Singapore-Malaysia Tele-movie, “Primadona” and acted on the big screen in the classic Singaporean film by Glen Goei entitled, ‘Forever Fever’ where she acted, danced and sang for the movie.
She has also become a sought-after host for various events and major events such as the first National Day Parade 2007, the opening of the Esplanade, Scape*, the Post Parade Chinggay Party and the recent inaugural closing ceremony of the Youth Olympics.
Anna Belle came from a family with a strong and popular musical background with father a Jazz drummer and an entire family of musicians. Therefore, it’s inevitable that Anna Belle started singing and producing her own music at a very young age. She represented Singapore in 1998 at the Asean Golden Voices in Vietnam, wrote and performed a single entitled, ‘Star’ that reached no.7 on the local charts, recorded a duet with Jessica Soo, entitled ‘Power of Two’ in a charity CD – ‘Love Is The Answer’ for Kids With Aids, “Shooting Soul” for Singapore’s local Movie, ‘Chicken Rice War’ and ‘I Got U Now’ with Sheikh Haikel on his album distributed by EMI, “For Sure Too’ which was put into a compilation in aid of the ‘Bali Bombing’. She performed with Sheikh Haikel and various regional Artistes in their tour to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bali.
Her passion for the Arts and Music has made her today an Artiste, Producer and Director of School of Music.
Husband and Wife Team
Together they have worked on numerous music projects together, music videos, countless of events and performances with National Arts Council, Scape*, Esplanade, The Arts House, People’s Association, Eurasian Association, Young NTUC and many more. They’ve worked closely with many brands such as G-SHOCK, Pioneer, Canon and Blackberry.
They were also on Okto’s hit TV series, “Knock Out!” for four seasons as “OLD SKOOL” taking on Art, Performing Arts and Music challenges!
Today, they are married for 13 years and share 2 beautiful children, a 10 year-old daughter and a 9 year-old son. The sky’s the limit for them as they now venture into creating Singapore’s first ALL-IN-ONE SCHOOL OF MUSIC, SOM.
